This was actually meant to be the final cap, with a possible epilogue. But it wouldn't fit without shrinking the text. And besides, I kinda like the cliffhanger it ended on.
I am thinking that the mom should live on as the son and the son should live on as his mom. The father/husband will in the end think that the mom and son will always be as they are.
